We live in one of the most beautiful places in the world in Springtime don't we? I have so much gratitude that we can run our local -made in Canada- clothing line from our two shops in Vancouver, and on Bowen Island where we began. Other than the fabric (which is made in Quebec, and under the very strict Canadian toxins guidelines), Movement Global truly represents 100-mile fashion.
Last weekend we spent a gorgeous and fun four hours shooting some of our latest sustainable fashion designs from just outside our flagship store at Bowen Islands' Artisan Square. Bowen local Robyn Westcott, and her boyfriend Mitch volunteered their time to help us with the shoot, and were so lovely and fun to work with!
Robyn and Mitch are both actors now based in Vancouver, but still love coming back to the island for some RnR.
Robyn loves wearing Movement Global clothing because they are "...fashionable but still super comfortable." Mitch loves the thermally regulating quality that is inherent in bamboo saying, " they are great clothes for an active lifestyle, not too hot and not too cold.”
Thanks Mitch and Robyn!
Below Mitch is wearing the MT3 the mens reversible Hanson Hoodie in charcoal mix and Black $136 with the MP3 Jessie pant in charcoal $136
Robyn is wearing our P10 Pietra crop legging $79 that many of our customer live in with the favourite dolman sleeve T47 Betty top in charcoal mix.
Robyn rests in the new bamboo slub T60 Vicky V neck $86 which is longer in the back than the front. The bamboo slub has a wonderful light feel and drape. Here is is paired with the Sk15 Phoebe single layered skirt $126. Both pieces have U hemlines which mirror each other and have a flattering silhouette.

Anne Glover has been a performing artist for the vast majority of her life. She has traveled internationally; enthralling audiences of all ages with a unique storytelling style. Her use of string-figures add a visual, low-tech dimension to her shows and acknowledges different learning styles.Recently Anne Glover took garments from Movement Global on a 57 day tour. She was amazed how over 8 weeks those 5 pieces gave her a seemingly infinite variety of outfits. She wore a black T42 Sierra Side Pocket over her jeans for her performances, or with the SK6 Hannah Skirt/Dress. She discovered that since the skirt/dress is reversible it really does have endless possibilities. We love that she brought not one, but two, J8 Sonia Wraps on tour. She had fun with the different colors and by layering them created a reversible garment! She also found out that by cuffing the sleeves she could create a color-blocking accent. She also took our T31 Sona Bra, that when combined with the Hannah Skirt became a fun, halter style dress.
Artists and performers have always been huge fans of our clothing line. The reversible options and versatility of our line give them many options on the road- without having to lug around a huge suitcase. The comfort also ensures that they feel at ease on stage- as oppose to wearing a fussy outfit.

The fashion industry places a heavy priority on staying on trend; making the consumer feel unsatisfied with what they already own. The fashion industry would have you believe that you are not "whole" without the latest colours, fits, and fabrics, but here at Movement Global we know that it's the "how" that matters: how it fits, how it fits your lifestyle and how it fits easily into your wardrobe, and we place a huge priority on how it's made.
Movement Global combats this money-making marketing technique by making clothes that are long-lasting, versatile and come in classic, yet edgy styles. The Movement line also makes clothes that can be worn in different ways and combined to make outfits transform, allowing our customers a range of possibilities.
Our clothing will keep you comfortable and in-style for many years; breaking a cycle of un-sustainability (both on the environment and your wallet!) Most synthetic fibres are made from petroleum and eventually become waste, letting off harmful toxins when they degrade; eco fibres such as bamboo are biodegradable.

Kaitey DeSante, an emerging dance artist, and long-time customer, supporter and stylist at Movement Global has been exploring the Movement Global mission in the past year through the facet of dance by working for local contemporary dance artist, Kelly McInnes. Kelly has been working on "MINE" in different capacities for the past 2 years.
"MINE" is a dance piece about our overly-focused materialistic culture and the un-sustainability of the consumer industry; with a specific focus on the fashion industry and our relationship to our clothing. Through these concepts "MINE" explores how we have come to define and relate our identities to what belongs to us. Throughout the piece concepts such as recycling, over consumption, body image, and the stories of what we have worn are magnified and played with.

"Perfect to dance in because they feel supportive, they hold their shape- they move WITH you and they breath" -Kaitey DeSante
We had the pleasure of meeting Marika Siewert, an accomplished Canadian singer/songwriter and a young mum of three. She's charted on the Top 40s and contributes to Vancouver media on many levels including co-hosting the new TV show Vancity Pulse; no doubt she's a busy woman. Movement's eco-fashion fits her lifestyle perfectly. Marika loves the SH1 Shrug; a versatile piece that can be worn up-side down, right-side up, and off the shoulder. This quintessential Movement style will transition a wardrobe from summer to winter. We love how Marika brings her bright personality and passion into her business. We were so inspired by this young woman and happy that her beliefs align with Movement Global's mission. Enjoy one of our favourite songs by Marika "Unstoppable" on Soundcloud:
